Synopsis

For fans of rich and complex historical novels like Girl with a Pearl Earring or Code Name Verity, Laura Malone Elliott delivers the stunning tale of real-life Renaissance woman Ginevra de' Benci, the inspiration for one of Leonardo da Vinci's earliest masterpieces.
The young and beautiful daughter of a wealthy family, Ginevra longs to share her poetry and participate in the artistic ferment of Renaissance Florence but is trapped in an arranged marriage in a society dictated by men. The arrival of the charismatic Venetian ambassador, Bernardo Bembo, introduces Ginevra to a dazzling circle of patrons, artists, and philosophers. Bembo chooses Ginevra as his Platonic muse and commissions a portrait of her by a young Leonardo da Vinci. Posing for the brilliant painter inspires an intimate connection between them, one Ginevra only begins to understand. In a rich and vivid world of exquisite art with a dangerous underbelly of deadly political feuds, Ginevra faces many challenges to discover her voice and artistic companionship—and to find love.

My Thoughts

"Rich, compelling, and beautiful portation of a relationship between a painter and his muse. Recommended to Sharon Biggs Waller's fans."

I'm  not really a big fan of historical dramas, but this book (well, mainly its cover) caught my attention. And I know how they say that you don't judge a book by its cover, but we all know that a book's cover is the first thing that captures the attention of a reader.

"Most men are hunters and collectors. You must know the difference between those who do so out of true appreciation and affection, those who do it for sport, those who do it for prestige and to possess what others admire and desire, and those who do it desperate to use a woman as a shield."

"Sing of us. Sing of yourself. Sing of what treasure lies inside women's hearts and minds if men but look beyond their preconceived notions. We think, we feel, we bleed when hurt. We have courage when tested. Someday men may laud rather than fear that. That is my hope. So Sing, Ginevra. Make them Listen."

"I beg your parden. I am a mountain tiger."

Elliott's book displays a very accurate lifestyle version of Renaissance and Florentine's. One has to admit she knows how to weave a beautifully illustrated story that catch its reader in its web the moment you start reading her first lines.
Da Vinci's Tiger was one of those book which makes me view the world from a new point of view. And even though its not my cup of tea, I would tell you all to at least give a thought towards reading it. Since I can guarantee you one thing that you wouldn't regret your decision. I don't.

Synopsis

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines comes the next sizzling novel in the Rosemary Beach series, featuring well-known playboy and Blaire’s half brother, Captain.
The look on Rose’s face had screamed that she was hiding something. Hell, she’d practically run away from me. There was something to that. I knew there was...
After ten years in the employ of a mysterious crime boss, River “Captain” Kipling is ready to leave his sordid past—and his cover occupation as an upscale restaurateur—behind him. The only thing standing in the way of his “retirement” is his commitment to launch a new restaurant in the resort town of Rosemary Beach. With his sister, Blaire, nearby, Captain can delay his dream of running a humble bar on the waterfront, but the unwanted attentions of his head server, Elle, have him itching to get out.
Until he notices Rose Henderson, the new server at the restaurant. All he knows about the pretty redhead with the cute glasses is that she’s a hardworking single mom from Oklahoma. But there’s something overly familiar about her laugh...something strange about the way she looks at Captain...

My Reviews

Page-burning scenes and mind-scrambling chemistry! Captain & Addy's story is gonna own you.

The Best Goodbye. Oh man ! there aren't words that are enough to describe the amazingness of The Best Goodbye. Abbi Glines is one of my favourite author, so I always expect a great deal from her books. And amazingly, she keeps on  increasing my expectations.

"He pulled me close to him and lowered his mouth to my ear. "You're my reason for everything."
"I can't remember what my life was like before you."..."I don't want to remember." He smirked."I remember what mine was like before you, and I don't ever want to live without you again."
"Because when River Joshua Kipling decided you were worth protecting, he did it with everything he had."

The book is written in the dual pov of River Joshua Kipling (Captain) and Addy (Rose). As always Mrs. Glines' writing style capture you in the story the moment you start reading the first lines. And the storyline is marvelously incorporated, River & Addy story has more history than you could have imagined. I could go on and on, but it's suffice to say that The Best Goodbye is guaranteed to be one of the best read of your life.....

Here's to increasing the expectations!

Keep Scrolling Down For A Teaser...

Her car was in the driveway when I pulled up to Addy’s house. When I’d gotten to the office and found out she’d called in sick, I had turned and walked right back out. She wasn’t sick. At least, I hoped she wasn’t. I was more than positive she’d called in sick to stay away from me. Which I deserved, dammit. Last night had gone wrong.
I wanted Addy. There, I said it. I fucking wanted Addy. The idea of her with anyone else drove me mad. But how could I have her? The man I was now could never be someone she would love.
I parked my truck and headed for her door, not sure what I intended to say, but I had to say something. This thing between us had to be fixed for Franny’s sake—and my sanity. Sleeping last night had been impossible. The look on Addy’s face before she had turned and walked out of my office had taunted me. How could I protect her from me? I’d protected her from everyone else, but I’d never had to protect her from me.
The small porch of the guest house they rented was clean, with potted flowers giving the place a homey feel. Even the steps were swept clean. Addy gave our daughter so much. I’d never be able to give her what Addy could. But I wanted to give her everything in my power.
Before I hit the top step, the door swung open, and Addy stood there, glaring at me. That should have been the first thing I worried about: what I was going to say to fix this. But that wasn’t what caught my attention.
She wasn’t wearing a bra. Her much larger breasts were crammed into a top that wasn’t quite big enough to contain them. God help me, I wanted her naked.
“Why are you here?” she snapped.
I had to shake my head and force my eyes off her tits to regain focus. Looking up at her angry face helped. I didn’t want her angry at me. I had to find a way to make up for last night and the shitty way I’d handled things. But she needed a bra. A potato sack would be even better. “I came to talk,” I said.
“Talk,” she said, not moving from the door, a look of steel on her face. That only made her hotter. A mad Addy was not a scary one.
“Can I come in?”
“No,” she snapped.
I was going to have to do better than this. “Addy, I’m sorry. I was an asshole last night, and I would like to talk about what happened. Please.”
That softened her up a bit. I could see the anger she was using like a shield slip some. She bit down on her bottom lip and took a step back. That was a good sign. “OK. Fine.”
When she turned to walk back inside, I took the moment to enjoy the view of her ass. It was a jerk move, but her body was so filled out now, and I hadn’t seen it naked looking like this. The body I had once claimed as mine no longer looked the same, and I wanted to see more of it.
“Would you like a drink?” she asked, glancing back at me.
I jerked my gaze off her butt to shake my head. “No, I’m good, thanks.”
“OK, then, talk.” She looked at me with a directness I wasn’t used to from her. Lately, she hardly looked me in the eyes. But then I’d brought that on myself, too. She motioned for me to take a seat on the sofa, and she sat in the chair across from it.
I wished I’d come more prepared. I had made a rushed decision to come over once she wasn’t at work, but now that I had her alone, I didn’t know where to start. She looked annoyed. Again, I wasn’t used to that.

The hotly-anticipated follow-up to New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout's mega-selling Lux series, written from the point of view of Daemon Black. What more could you ask for?! I've been waiting for this for what feels like an eon. It's not that Jen didn't help. She did by providing different scenes in Daemon Pov, but still it wasn't enough! So to say I'm at the cloud nine,is understating it. I hope you all are with me when I say that this is going to be one of our epic reading. Here's a teaser.....

Her steps were tentative as she neared the porch, as if she was still debating if she really wanted to walk into the house. The woman, who I was guessing was her mom based on the similar dark hair, had left the front door open. The girl stopped at the bottom of the steps. I sized her up as I drifted silently through the trees.
She appeared of average height. Actually, everything about her seemed average—her dark brown hair, pulled back from her face in a messy knot; her pale, roundish face; her average weight—definitely not one of those skinny girls I hated— and her…
Okay. Not all of her appeared average. My gaze was hung up on her legs and other areas. Damn, they were nice legs.
The girl turned around, facing the forest as her arms folded along her waist, just below her chest. Okay. Two areas in particular were not average.
She scanned the line of trees and her gaze stopped— stopped right where I was standing. My hands opened at my sides, but I didn’t move, didn’t dare force my lungs to take a breath. She stared right at me.
But there was no way she could see me. I was too hidden among the shadows. A handful of seconds passed before she unfolded her arms and turned, slowly heading into the house, leaving the door wide open behind her.

Be sure to add this on your TBR list!,

Some Important Revisals

 Hello fellow readers,
So some of you may remember that I started a blog feature called 'Wednesday Wonders', where every wednesday I used to post a book review. Well, I'm quite revising the feature now. You see in order to post these reviews, I had to complete a book in a very hurried manner, which was really frustrating, especially for those books which I would have loved to read slowly.

So basically every week I used to start a new book and I was like..

And then I'm so into it that I'm like....

And then I remember it's Wednesday and I need to hurry and I'm like...

Then at last I decided that this can't go on. So from now, I'm gonna write the reviews when I finished the books at my own pace. (yeah, you heard me right!)

But then what about "Wednesday Wonders"? No worry! It's still gonna be there, but from now It will about the upcoming book release that I'm excited about.  Remember? Wednesday Wonders , book you ought to look out for? I guess it was fated from the begining.

So for now,

Adios, Sayonara , Hasta-la-vista.

My Review

"Mind blowing story that will leave you breathless with its emotion-drive angst and its twist & turns. CoHo has created a masterpiece there."

There are many types of books. Some disappoint you, where others are beyond your expectations. Some earns a very special place in your life, while others just steal your heart & soul. Colleen Hoover’s November 9 is the latter one. To say that it scarred me is not enough. Actually, there are no words to describe what it did to me. Its official- CoHo left me speechless.

"I didn't think you needed rescuing. I just sometimes find it difficult to control my indignation in the presence of absurdity."

"If she's not careful. I might just fall in love with her. Tonight."

"When you find love, you take it. You grab it with both hands and you do everything in your power not to let it go. You can't just walk away from it and expect it to linger until you're ready for it."

"You'll never be able to find yourself, if you're lost in someone else."

"Loving someone doesn't just include that person, Ben. Loving someone means accepting all the things and people that person loves, too. And I will. I do. I promise."

So basically, the story revolves around the date November 9 and its different impact and importance on Ben and Fallon’s life. Ben and Fallon are two strangers whose lives get crossed on November 9.  But even the even the little sparks (more like fireworks) of attraction and tentative hope of more in the future, doesn’t change the fact that Fallon is moving to the opposite part of the country in few hours. So they make a pact of meeting on (Yes, you guessed it right!)November 9 for the next five years and see how life plays with them and if they still wants to be together. Till now you are thinking, well what is so special about that? See I know the concept is not that original, but the story..... As I said before, it’s astonishing.
CoHo has skilfully written this masterpiece. The moment you think you know what’s gonna happen next, you are left floored. You become curious to know more, so you keep turning the page and then you discover you have almost reached the end. And the end, God! I could have never imagined how wormed, the thread of their lives (Ben and Fallon’s) were.
At last I could only say, that November 9 is not the book to be read, but it is to be devoured. And it’s apparent that anyone who has not read this has not lived their life to the fullest. I hope you are not gonna be one of them!

My Review

Scottish package full of swoon- worthy moments, steamy scenes and tearful reunions, One King's Way is a boon to all those who are not ready to say goodbye to the ODS series yet. Hats Off to Young, who still has the power to make her readers live.

On Dublin Street has been the starting point of my girl crush with Samantha Young. She had me in her snare from the moment I met Joss & Braden. And from then, I've been obsessively stalking this series. So to find out, that one more member was added in the ODS family was cherry at the top! I was really curious to know what happen with Craig, since the moment I read that he moved to another continent in the Down London Bridge (Book 2), and viola` Samantha fulfilled my wish (My genie`!).

"I can't promise what will happen in the future; no one can. But I can promise that I want to be with you."
"When our eyes met again were filled with something... something I couldn't identify. "What?" I said softly. "I think you just might be more than a little magnificient," he said."
"I can't imagine ever loving another woman the way that I love you."

The story mainly revolves around Craig & Rain's intense relationship. Its written in dual POV. Craig, who we met in the first book of ODS series (Hint: bartender who kissed Joss for fun), is basically the laid-out-one night-stand-no-serious relationship-scot, who absolutely adore his family. (Don't we always fall for these guys?)  Rain is the new addition, but you won't feel like you don't know her. Just like in every other Young's story, you get attached with the character and starts to see the story going through their point of view. I could fully understand every actions and reactions of the characters which basically was the ultimate reason of my overwhelming emotions.

There are countless quirky-chuckle-inducing dialogues and heart-twisting moments, which are the trademarks of the Samantha Young's writings. I honestly believe she has the power to change a stone cold statue to a sopping mess. So even thinking about rating her story less than 5 Stars feels like a catastrophe. At the end all I want to say is that if you think about missing on this, then man you're missing it so large. And to those who haven't even started reading this series? What are you doing here? Go and buy the book !

Scarlet
It was the kind of relationship where I invested more than I had to spare.I gave it everything. And so when it failed, I lost myself. It changed me. He changed me.I went down with the ship.My soul, burnt embers in the aftermath. The fire of him ravaged it all.He burned me.Broke me.

Scarlett had always dreamed big. She was headed straight for Hollywood. Destined for silver screen greatness. But in her wildest dreams she never imagined she’d be broke and single at twenty-eight, doling drinks at thirty-five thousand feet. She was a glorified waitress in the skies. It had been years since she’d seen him.But one day, there he sat, gazing intently at her, ready to set everything ablaze once more.Dante wanted her. Again.Sure, she’d play along…but this time, it was his turn. She was breaking him. After all, love is war.

My Review

A heart-wrenching love/hate story that grips you and leaves you feeling breathless. Dante & Scarlet is that type of story that has the power to submerged its reader in the deep water of irresistible hatred and undeniable love. Recommended for those who loved the Tristan & Danika or the Crossfire series.

This was something else.I've read books by R.K. Lilley, and Up In The Air is one of my favourite series. But this was very ( and by very, I mean jaw-dropping-wide-eyed-staring) different. I was intrigued from the first page and my attention didn't wander until I completed the last chapter. If I may speak the truth, a part of my mind is still dwelling in the undercurrent Lilley left me with her insufferable ending.
It's get clear from the beginning of the first chapter that current situation of our protagonists is the aftereffect of their inscrutable past. The book is solely from Scarlet point of view, so we get to see only one side of the coin. But throughout the story you could see that everything is not as it seems ( Is it ever?)

"His mouth twisted."A match in hell.""
"There is only one heart in this universe that calls to mine..... But I won't listen to it. It belongs to a liar."
""I hate that I still love you."....."I hate that I'll never stop.""

The story mainly revolves around their explosive relationship or the lack of it. The emotions and electricity between these two are so palpable that I would need to stand back if I were in the same room. Reunited through tragedy, they are sparked with combustible energy. The story keeps shifting between 'The Past' and 'The Present'. However, you starts realizing that the truth has many layers to it. So you keep reading and peeling the layers, trying to see what's inside. But at the end you are left with tears, still not able to find the whole truth (even though you can guess some of it). To say the truth, the cliffhanger is going to haunt me for days and night.

All in all, R.K. Lilley exhibited a different but spectacular side of her writing by this book. And I would be obsessively waiting for the next instalment of Dante & Scarlet story (Breaking Her), that (I hope) will open a window to their history and future.

Golden books 24*7 is born !!

Little- Bittle First Steps

“I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.”
― Jorge Luis Borges

I fully agree with Mr. Borges there. In today's world book has gained a tremendous popularity, which was never estimated before. Around £ 2.2 billion is spent on books in the UK each year, so imagine the amount estimated worldwide! Books has crossed every bulwark, whether it was a gender based or age based. There are only two types of people left in the world now who doesn't love reading.
  1.     The Abibliophobic- who are afraid of reading books. (My sympathies with you guys.)
  2.     The Ever-Frustrating Bonehead- who never understands the art of reading.( Seriously, I've nothing to say guys.).

People in India are the world's biggest readers, spending an average 10.7 hours a week reading. This explains my obsession with books I guess! So after reading over thousands of books and finding not a sufficient amount of people to gush about them, I've at last surrendered and decided to start my own blog.
So now you will be thinking what's new in that? To say the truth, there's nothing new here but only the good old reviews, which you would never get bored from.

Which brings me back to the main topic- A sweet little introduction to Who am I?

I am Sona Dasgupta, an avid reader with dreams of writing the millions stories that jumps on me untimely (eg.writing my final exams, walking on the crossing etc. etc.) and unravel every books ever known to the mankind. Nothing too impossible right?

And why the name 'Golden Books 24*7' ? Simple, because every book is a golden treasure which are waiting  24*7, all day and night for you to discover them.

So for those who didn't understand my maze writings, this blogs is mainly about numerous books I will read and the reviews, I'll write. Coz u see, You can't buy happiness but you can buy books, and that's kind of same thing for me.

So for now,
Goodbye, Adieu, Sayonara..
Sona Dasgupta.
